Request Unit Support

USO is honored to serve our local service men and women, whenever, wherever you need us! Each month USO receives requests for donations to support military units hosting various functions. CLICK HERE to fill out the USO National Capital District Unit Support request form.

Our level of support can vary according to your needs. Depending on your needs and our budget availability, our support can range from staffing an event to donating materials.

Requirements for Unit Support

• You MUST be an active duty military unit attached to an installation in the National Capital Region. Click HERE

• ALL REQUESTS for unit support must be made through the USO National Capital District website by completing the unit support request form. Click HERE

• We are unable to consider requests made directly through USO centers or USO Airport Lounges. Requests must be made through the USO National Capital District website by completing the unit support request form.

• At LEAST 70 percent of the attendees for the event MUST be active duty military personnel/dependents.

• In order to ensure that USO can accommodate a unit support request, it is important that the request is made AT LEAST 30 days prior to the event.

• Due to the volume of unit support requests, we may not be able to provide every item requested; however we will always try to provide some essential items such as water, soda, and snacks.

We Offer Three Levels of Event Support:

1. On-Site Support: providing entertainment/handing out beverages or snacks/USO National Capital District Information Tables
2. Supply Drop Off: Coordinating a location to drop off requested materials for your event.
3. Unit Pick-Up: A representative from your group picks up your requested materials from a mutually agreed upon location - typically USO Depot at Fort Belvoir.

Due to our allocated budget and annual commitments, we may not be able to fulfill every event request. We recommend putting your request in as early as possible. Homecomings and Deployments take first priority in regard to event support.

Examples of Event Support our Staff Can Provide Include:

• Supplying Water & Snacks for a Unit 5K Run
• Allocating USO National Capital District Materials at Resource Fairs and Base Events
• Providing Decorations and Cakes for a Service Branch Birthday Celebration
• Delivering Arts & Craft Materials for Unit Holiday Celebrations
• Staffing Homecomings or Deployments - Providing Entertaining Activities from Raffles to Craft Stations.
• Boosting Morale at All Charitable Events

Typically, assistance requests are made for soda, raffle prizes, gift cards, USO information/table, and items for kids, etc.
